Forget the grungy, layered-over flannel, and tuck away your baggy, open-fronted boyfriend shirt (for now). It's so simple. Such an easy, low-cost way to complete an outfit, create a new look, change the feel of a piece; and yet many males simply neglect to do it.
I'm talking about belting in your outerwear. In this case it's a shearling-lined jacket meaning it's a little bulky... but if you imagine the coat without the belt, it's a much more everyday look. Adding a belt simply shows that you're up for a little accessorising; that you're willing to take it one (albeit small) step forwards.
